Last week and weekend here in Malta, www.Betpro.it have been having a live tournament at Portomaso Casino and its truly been massive, they really have not saved any money anywhere in making this magnificent. I think the TD’s that been in charge been good and efficient and the lightning of the room was really something different and special. The tour itself attracted over 400 players and is the biggest field so far here in Malta. I played day 1A and so looked forward to this event due to structure and deep stack. Starting off with 50k and 50 min levels is nice!!
I had a very hard table; a few really good players that I also know since before and some just completely reckless playing as it was a 10 euro rebuy tour. First 2 levels we had several pots on our table around 80, 90 k and that is just sick in a deepstack tour starting of at 50/50, in just few hands I had a clear chip leader, on my left and he stayed chip leader for all of day 1.
I always think and yea well say aswell I guess, when ppl tell me they didn’t get any cards at all and totally card dead that : hey do something with the card you getting then, mix it up!
I will never say that again.
This was my first tour being extremely card dead, and I really mean it. I love playing suited connectors the smaller the merrier :) and am not scared for getting involved and pushing trough but this table along with my bad cards and no connection on board made it really difficult. Last 2 levels of the day felt like running a marathon. Every hand I tried I get 3 or 4 betted and if seeing a flop I get pushed out of it. Analyzing my play and the table and how things where played I think looking back, I should have taken a gamble in level 1 or 2.. but it just didn’t feel necessary to do so not being sure one had best hands or the odds on your side, also thinking there surely must come a better opportunity along the hrs. Sadly it didn’t. I busted the last hand before they announce they play the last 3 for the day. I had to do something or I come back day two with 7 BB, and I picked up a decent hand and pushed on the button called by SB. End of my Malta poker dream.
It was a super well organized event, massive participation and everything worked smoothly. Congratulations to Fabio Albamonte, that I railed over the live feed the whole finaltable, he played very well and after insane amount of hrs could claim the title!
I also played the Ladies event of Malta Poker Dream and it was really not a pleasant experience, I think of myself as quite experienced playing with many different nationalities and I don’t see it as a problem, I have long time ago accepted that during the Italian events here its Italian spoken and it’s my choice if I want to participate or not. Am fine with that, fingers and showing with chips get you a long way.
But, what is allowed and what is really not allowed around a poker table?
I got a high thresher hold with this, I can even be quite harsh myself sometimes, but am not rude or mean and I don’t make it personal., because in end it effects me in bad way but yes sure I talk a lot if the company is good, but more and more I turn into sitting quiet with my music. However am sorry, but far from a very few Italian women I met, for an example, Cristina Pietricola and Carla Solinas who I have the very deepest respect for, the Italian ladies are extremely bad behaving and rude to play with, not in an event with men around the table but playing ladies event they for some reason turn into something that is not suitable at all. Strange actually, grown up women behaving as 12 years old insecure bullies.
You all know my stand when it comes to ladies event that I don’t think it should be divided in men/women event but it’s good for the game to have tours to attract more females to play and try out live game. But if this is the kind of behavior they met it’s definitely not at all a good thing for our ‘sport’. I can just ignore them but I feel I have to speak up and complain for those who don’t feel secure enough to do so. I think to team up 2-3 ppl to curse and scold someone at a poker table in a language you know the person can’t understand and defend her/himself in s so coward there is really no words for it, and don’t bring anything good for anyone. I have seen a lot but this ladies event was by far stepping over the lines more than anything, it was even worse then colluding as it was personal attacks, and colluding in poker is about as bad as it gets so for this to be worse says it all.
Am very disappointed that the dealers that overall did a very good job, to let this go on, some even smiled to it. They should have instructed the ladies to behave or called the floor, it’s not so easy for us foreigners to call floor when we don’t understand 100% what is said on the table, and one should also know that when calling floor it gets into a huge drama with these Italians, and not everyone can handle this, some girls played for their first time even. It’s sad that such a great massive impressive event should leave this for ppl to take home as a memory. Am doubtful I will play them again these ladies event, but ah well I guess I will … donkaments :)
And big big respect to my friend Graziella Vella who placed 3th, am very happy for her and super proud!

And for those who wonder, yes I would thought the same of these rude ladies even if I won it :)
